Blew my mind

Just wanted you to know I thoroughly enjoyed Race2Glory last weekend. It is 8km longer than Gaelforce Connemara so I expected it to be somewhat equivalent effort-wise but it's definitely a much tougher challenge. You grow some good hills in Kiltimagh!

What really blew my mind was how much of a community spirit there was. We arrived early that morning from Dublin and people in the shop were asking "are you here for the race?", then we saw the bunting all over the main street and the hoodies in shop windows. There were people cheering us on everywhere during the race, countless marshalls and volunteers at the water stations, registration people, locals offering orange slices, barbecue chefs, post-race masseurs, GAA club offering their amenities etc. It seemed like everyone in the town got involved - every business seemed to be on the sponsor list, and the atmosphere in the town was very welcoming. Really made you feel like you were part of something special.

Big shout out to the lady at one of the water stations who was misting everyone with water (what a legend!), and whoever wrote the funny signs along the route. Brilliant!

Very well run event, great fun, beautiful location, and very reasonably priced. What's not to love? This filthy Jackeen so-and-so will definitely be back next year, and I'll be telling everyone I know to come.
